How Hypergrowth Startups are Built by Human Connection with Elizabeth Weil

In this episode, Elizabeth Weil - investor, advisor, entrepreneur, super-connector, ultra-marathon runner, and mother of three - talks about venture firms and what it takes to transform a startup into a Fortune 500 company. Elizabeth is the founder and managing partner at Scribble, an early-stage venture firm started by operators and investors from Instagram, Twitter & A16z, and the founder of a side-business called Paperwheel, a custom letterpress studio that combines modern themes with the age-old craft of letterpress.

Weil has had hundreds of angel investments and amazing experiences at bigger and well-known firms, and a track record as a GP. Today, we talk about her over two-decade experience in the venture capital business and technology companies. We dive deep into her early stages at Twitter as it grew from 50 to 3000 employees and the importance of the human element in scaling a business. We also explore her path to venture capital, from joining A16z to help them scale customer relationships with the Fortune 500 to ultimately revenue for their portfolio companies and joining the secondary firm 137 Ventures to help them provide customized liquidity solutions.

Furthermore, we tackle her own firm, Scribble Ventures, and how she started it during the tough times of Covid. Learn how to grow technology startups and venture capital firms, how to connect startups with Fortune 500 companies, the importance of the human component when scaling a business, how founders stand out, letterpressing, and so much more.
